Explore responsibly
ParaMaps is here to inspire curious, respectful adventures across Britain’s mysterious places. Many locations are historic, rural, privately managed or vulnerable, so a little consideration helps preserve them for everyone.
Before you travel
Access, opening arrangements, prices, parking and path conditions can change. Check current information from the site owner, attraction, council or relevant managing organisation before setting out.
Choose locations and routes appropriate for your experience, mobility and the conditions on the day. Weather, tides, daylight and terrain can materially change an otherwise straightforward visit.
While exploring
Follow local signs and recognised public routes. Respect private property, residents, businesses, landowners and other visitors.
Leave buildings, objects, monuments and natural features exactly as you find them. Please don’t climb, move, mark, remove, dig around or leave items at a location unless the site’s official guidance specifically allows it.
Park considerately, keep access points clear and take litter home. Keep dogs under appropriate control, particularly near livestock and wildlife.
Stories, legends and reported experiences
ParaMaps separates documented history from folklore, local tradition and reported experiences wherever reasonably possible.
Legends are preserved because they form part of Britain’s cultural landscape – not because every detail can be independently proved. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy the mystery while respecting the real places and communities connected with it.
Your visit
ParaMaps provides independent information and inspiration, not supervised tours or individually tailored safety advice. Visitors remain responsible for their own decisions, conduct and wellbeing.
If current signs, restrictions or official guidance differ from information on ParaMaps, always follow the current local guidance.
Help us keep information accurate
